Yongzh, the developer and Android coder, already created and shared the NES emulator NESoid as well as GESoid for Mega Drive emulation. Both emulators have already been proven to be good apps that give you a chance to play any of your favourite retro games now using only the Android phone.
SNESoid can also do these things, but it focuses on emulating the 16-bit games for Super NES console. This console offers famous games such as Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, Secret of Mana, Super Metroid, and F-Zero. All these games contributed to SNES being called the best video game machine.
If you have already used some emulators before for Android, then using SNESoid would be quite easy. It shares the same design as the other emulators. It also has options for sound emulation, screen size, virtual D-pad, button assignment.
However, this app can also be played only with a QWERTY keyboard. Without the keyboard, you cannot assign the most important gaming keys at all. Even if you opt to have them displayed, you cannot do so because of the very small screen. This means that it would be really hard to play for you.
If you have the new Motorola DEXT, then you can play the games from SNESoid because this phone already has a keyboard, which allows you to use the D-pad and other buttons. The other emulators developed by Yongzh can also be used on this phone. This also goes the same for G1 phones because of their physical keyboard.
- The XBox 360 iSO files have been made to give you a more practical option when playing games. It has many advantages and benefits. The file size and compatibility of the iso format make it very functional and easy to use. The iso file is considered one of the most recognized formats in the market. Programs known as Xbox 360 emulators are available which allows the consumers to play and use the Xbox iso files on PC with Windows 7 and 8. For playing Sony Playstation 3 games you should PS3 emulators.
Just like what you basically did for NESoid and GENSoid, you still need to do the same things in finding a game’s ROM because you don’t get to have one with your SNESoid bundle. Although we are still confused about the rules of ownership of the ROM files, but the most important thing to remember is that you can only use ROM files that you actually bought yourself. You just need to answer for yourself then and do the moral debate on your own.
What we have observed with SNESoid is that it really tries hard to be more powerful than GENSoid and NESoid. It may be slower than the 16-bit games like Mega Drive, it still uses chips that allow the games’ flashy effects to be executed so well.
Due to the goal of improving the hardware’s power, SNESoid comes out with less satisfactory results. If you want to experience the game with all the effects and the sound intact, you have to change the frame skip and put them in single figures. During intense action scenes though, the game usually stops. This is why we considered SNESoid games as having a lot to improve on.
But if you let the processor rest a bit, the game would have been more under control. Most of the titles in SNESoid can be played though not as fast as it was before.
It is quite hard for us to sacrifice something for SNESoid games to be more of a success for the players. This is why we couldn’t openly give a recommendation about the emulator. However, Yongzh may still want to develop the emulator even more in the future. We would recommend the use of GENSoid and NESoid too.
